I've heard that many adults and children don't like to read and rarely pick up a book unless they're forced to. I can't understand that.
I've been an avid reader my whole life and just the thought of not having a book around to read makes me very upset. So, I have hundreds of books in my apartment ready for me to read when I get to them.
You can learn so much by reading even if you read fiction and it is fun. Reading can take you to other worlds, another time, visit countries you've yet to see and many other things. Reading really is one of the best things to do.

I think the nowadays multimedia surpasses the traditional books much more than it used to be.
The problem is that reading
The problem is that reading is not as immediate as other easily accessible media (movies, video games). It doesn't have bright colors, sound effects, and it demands concentration and thinking. I think these are wonderful things, but kids raised on TV and Nintendo don't share my enthusiasm.

I hate to read, as i used to read very sincerely at school... i just hate reading now... but it is a good habit... it brings concentration..

if the parents aren't readers, then the kids seldom become readers... I read to my daugher every night and have since she was a baby.

I also do not understand people who do not like to read. I love reading and try to do so when I can. Unfortunately, I do not always get around to reading much because of other things I have to get done.
My reason for not reading
My reason for not reading much anymore is really do not have as much time as I use to have. With everything it seems going on in this world people have forgotten about reading and it is a shame.

I'm surprised at some people who don't read much.
I haven't been reading as much for pleasure as I'd like, partly because I've been back logged with some trade papers that I have to catch up on.

I try to read every day. I used to get grounded from reading when I was a kid, lol. I alwyas had my nose stuck in a book and still do. I would rather stay home and read than to go shopping. I know I read lots on the internet but I think it's important to pick up a book too sometimes.
