The new book by James Lee Burke starring his character Dave Robicheaux is out. It's called Swan Peak.
I usually don't like books that have violence in them. I don't like to read it when writers try and make their characters hard boiled and harsh.
But James Lee Burke is such a wonderful and talented writer, that I adore all of the Dave Robicheaux books that are out.
All of them are for full grown adults. There is no silly violence or stupid unneeded sex in any of these books. The violence that permeates these stories are terribly important to the story, the location and the characters. The sex between Dave and his wives are beautiful moments between adults who love each other and who understand that sometimes sex must be used to heal and help the person you love survive.
Sometimes after I read some of Mr. Burke's lines, I have to stop reading and go over the thoughts once again. He writes with such brutal beauty that I can't help but sit and shake my head in wonderment.
If you are an adult who can take harsh realities of life and who can understand that right isn't an easy concept, you must not miss these Dave Robicheaux books! They are magnificent.
