Lately, I have noticed that there are some commercials on TV that either make no sense, or are so terrible that I actually have to change the station or mute the TV until it's off.
Who make these commercials? One series against smoking is so disgusting that I hate to see any of them. One man had a hole in his throat because of smoking, one woman talked about how her fingers had to be amputated, as she shows her hands to the camera, because of smoking for some reason, and others in the series are even more disgusting as they show moldy lungs and amputated feet and such. Does that actually make anyone stop smoking? Studies have shown that smokers know how bad smoking is for you and shut off when they see anything about the health hazards of smoking. So that just leaves us non smokers to watch the dreadful commercials.

Ya know the one's I can't deal with are the "YOU NEED RELACORE" one's or the "apply directly to the head" repeated over and over again!! Arrrrrgggghhhh...maybe I do need the stuff but hey...don't pound it into my brain or I'll have to "apply directly to" my head!!!

They are trying to move with the times but I do agree the commercials are really bad these days.
I detest public "service"
I detest public "service" commercials that go on and on with their "anti-whatever-it-is-that -the-government-wants-to-stamp-out" messages.
I make a point of muting the sound when they come on.
There was a safety
There was a safety commercial about a year ago that showed a woman getting severely burned in the kitchen of a restaurant. I think it was effective in getting your attention, but I'm sure many people found it shocking, not expecting a commercial to be that graphic.
I think generally, the makers of innovative commercials pretty much go out on a limb, and sometimes the commercials are very successful and sometimes they're not - And they have to air to find out which way they'll go.

I agree that Geico especially seems to have commercials on that have nothing whatsoever to do with their product. It really looks like a bunch of guys were high and they had an idea about a caveman. Then they all got to laughing and kept taking drugs and wrote a series of commercials that mean nothing at all. If you don't know what Geico sold, those commercials don't tell you.
And if commercials don't sell the product -- what good are they?
