Since the extreme price hike in gas, I think that Wal-Mart will now become the ultimate to shop. Both Wal-Mart and Publix use to be my favorite places to shop, but with me having to cut back on my spending I've noticed that I only shop at Publix when they have something Super Wal-Mart does not. Does anyone have any opinions on the subject?

I hate Walmart, they are a
I hate Walmart, they are a horrible company and it pains me to give my money to them. I really have not noticed that their prices are that much cheaper. A gallon of Walmart milk is 1 cent cheaper than Publix, and Publix's milk is rBGH free, which should make it cost a lot more. Plus Walmart's produce is nasty looking, and that's where I spend most of my time in the grocery store.
Sam Walton would roll in his
Sam Walton would roll in his grave if he knew what has happened with his business! I agree that Wal Mart eats up all it's competition, but I have to shop there due to no actual choice. As far as their produce goes though, I won't even buy it for my rabbits to eat. We do have a Target and a Cub Foods here, but Cub is fairly high buck on a lot of things and when we're as tight as we are financially, I go to Wal Mart. Every penny saved really does count these days. My son worked there for a while but couldn't deal with the whole thing so he quit after a year. One of our daughters works there and she's pretty happy with it so far, but she's only part time in the dairy section. I've heard horror stories, in fact, they just lost a lawsuit here in MN over the way they treated employees.
In my area we don't have
In my area we don't have many stores like Walmart. In fact, we don't have a Walmart anywhere near me. I do have a Walgreens and I do shop there about once a week.
Sometimes you don't really have a big choice where you can shop, especially if you don't have a car to get around. If Walmart were near me I would shop there if it were the only store around like it. I might not agree with the business practice of some stores but when there is no choice what can people do?
With Walmart being the
With Walmart being the closest store to us and one of the only stores to stock some of the things I like, I have to say I do shop there everyonce in a while. If I can remember everything from my biweekly shopping trip I don't head there, but every once in a while there is something I forget and a WalMart run in necessary. Their prices are good, but I dont agree with a lot of their business practices which is why I dont support them more than I do right now.
I love Wal Mart. I shop from
I love Wal Mart. I shop from them all the time. You can't beat those prices!
I wouldn't shop at Wal Mart,
I wouldn't shop at Wal Mart, not for the love of me. Check out the consumerist, see the horror stories about Wal Mart.
I do buy some things at
I do buy some things at Wal*Mart, but I think they're not very good to their employees and they tend to ruin other smaller businesses in the area, like "mom and pop" stores.
I agree, America is losing
I agree, America is losing the "American Dream"... It is very hard to compete with Wal-Mart and should you decide to sell your product to them they will starve you till you are out of business. They will want your product, then take 90 days or more to pay for it... All that money going out and none coming in makes it hard to stay open.
I shop at Walmart some,
I shop at Walmart some, about two or three times a month. I have three kids and I get what we all need there plus a few foodstuffs that are cheaper than our local sav a lot.
But is cheaper really
But is cheaper really better?
