Fashion Design and Art Schools

I am pondering about going to a fashion design school that's located in a city two hours away from me. Has anyone ever attended a private art or fashion design school and what was your experience like. There is also a school I've been looking into called Academy of Art which is based on the opposite side of the country, but they have online classes and the biggest perk about graduating from their school is that you get to show your work in Fashion Week.
