How To Cool Off Without Cold Drinks Or Foods?

Now that summer is coming in I am afraid of the hot weather for my sister, who is quite ill now.

Because of her chemotherapy she can't have any cold food or drinks, because she says it feels like sand being poured in her mouth and the cold hitting her also feels like sand scouring her skin. We don't have an air conditioner, our apartment building owner just told everyone that any air conditioners sticking out from the windows can be torn down because it isn't legal -- some sort of nonsense.

Anyway, we always used cool drinks to cool us down in the worst of the summer heat but she can no longer have that. She's been good about never eating ice cream or ices again, but she really mises ice cubes for a cooling drink.

Last summer was a nightmare because she was really sick and the heat was terrible. We can use fans, but sometimes a cool drink is what you need.

Anyone have any ideas on how to cool off when you can't have cold foods?

Something that has worked

Something that has worked for me -- a spritzer bottle.  Keep a spray bottle of cold water handy and just zap it on your body.  it really does cool you down.  In fact, think I'll do that right now because it's kinda hot here.  Sometimes, I'll just dab it on my face, but I've been known to spray my head and as much of my body as I can.  Like I said, it's inexpensive and easy, and it has worked for me.

Also, cold compress or damp cloths at the back of the neck (or anywhere really) helps, too.

Good luck!

If your sister can stand it,

If your sister can stand it, she could try keeping cool by wearing damp clothing while near the fan.

Or maybe a really cool bath

Or maybe a really cool bath (or if whe can stand it, an ice bath)...

one thing we did was put ice

one thing we did was put ice in a large container of water and have a fan blow across it.. I also somethings go to a grocery store and spend a LONG time looking for ice cream with the freezer doors open...
