Hiding Vegetables in Meals

There's a book out by Jessica Seinfeld (Jerry's wife) that is a cookbook for parents of kids. It shows ways of making dishes that include vegetables in it but that the kids can't taste or see. That way, even though kids don't like vegetables, the are getting at least one serving of veggies per meal.

I don't think that it is really helpful. I think that one of the things we need to teach our kids is that they must have vegetables or fruit with every meal. If they don't learn that lesson now as kids, then I doubt that these kids will ever learn to have vegetables as adults. We must teach kids to eat healthy or else they won't know what to eat as adults.

Am I wrong? Do you think that parents must teach their kids the right way to have meals, or is it more important to get kids to eat veggies, even if they don't know that they are eating them?

I think hiding vegetables is

I think hiding vegetables is a really bad idea.  Kids need to learn what real food tastes like.

I think it's important for

I think it's important for kids to know what they're eating and such.  I have hidden veggies though many times!  When babies first start to eat solid foods I think that after the cereals, they should start with the veggies.  My granddaughter loves veggies because of that....especially broccoli and stuff that most kids won't eat at all.  It's fun to make it an adventure...take the kids to a farmer's market and buy them fresh...let them pick out new and different one's to try!  All of my kids even liked raw spinach when they were little!
