Anyone else using it? I got a new HP desktop and Vista came installed. So far I seem to like it. I like the new glass desktop. Vista seems to use a lot of memory. I'm using a sidebar gadget to monitor CPU and memory. I always seem to be using 40-50% of my total 2 gigs.

I had heard that it was
I had heard that it was really slow and took up loads of space on the PC, isnt this the case?
I haven't bought Vista
I haven't bought Vista yet. I like to wait for about 3 upgrades between before I buy a new version of my OS. Right now, I am still using Windows XP.
watch out for xp service
watch out for xp service pack 3, had some problems at work with outlook 2007 today.
I had no issues with XP SP3
I had no issues with XP SP3 that I had loaded on any systems - but then again, I don't use that virus loader known as Outlook.
We are in the process of
We are in the process of migrating from Novell with Groupwise to Microsoft with Exchange 2007. Kinda like juggling live grenades.
I am happy with Windows XP.
I am happy with Windows XP. A few of my friends and my boyfriend have Vista and they have nothing but problems with it. My boyfriend was working on something and his computer crashed. He had to reboot several times before he got back online.
I got the beta of Vista and
I got the beta of Vista and then the official version the day of release.. I like it - someone software compatibility issues, but that was about it.. AND I agree, get LOTS of RAM for it.
I also just got vista. Some
I also just got vista. Some people think it's more complicated, but I disagree, it's just more updated I guess you could say. It has many more features than regular windows. I'd definitely recommend it over windows to anyone.
I understand where you are
I understand where you are coming from but something you need to keep in mind before recommending Vista to just anyone is the system requirements. You really do need a pretty good system to run Vista.
I like windows better
I think that Vista is a bit more complicated to handle than regular windows. Like you said it takes up alot of your memory which is akward to me.But I like windows because I have been using it for so long.
Are you running service pack
Are you running service pack 1? A lot of people are having problems with sp1. So if you are running It, you might want to see if sp1 is causing the problem you are seeing.
No, I am not running SP1
No, I am not running SP1 yet. I read an article somewhere that said not to install it until Windows Update recommends it because there could be problems with drivers or software. A friend of mine that just got a new Lenovo laptop few months ago, just got notification today that SP1 was available for his computer. I am going to wait until Windows Update recommends SP1 to me before I install it.
I'm running Vista Ultimate
I'm running Vista Ultimate 64-bit with SP1 and it has improved many things I think... I have seen no real issues with SP1 since installed.
RAM - RAM - RAM
At Pratt Community College, We still use XP Pro and don't anticipate going to Vista for another year. We have have had 85% of our students this year with Vista and most of the machines we slow.
We would recommend at least 2 GB of Ram and a multi-core processor just to run Vista. 3GB of Ram if you want Office 2007.
Yeah, I think XP Pro is
Yeah, I think XP Pro is really the way to go. I know that my current desktop would run XP really nice... I have been thinking about maybe installing XP on it just to see how it ran.
If you'll ask me about a
If you'll ask me about a good quality and great features, XP rules. I'm a devoted XP user eversince. I tried Vista a month ago and I'm not totally satisfied. I'll stick to XP.
I have used both vista and
I have used both vista and Windows XP. I have to admit Vista has somethings I really like, but it continues to crash my computer time and time again. I had my geek nerd who is somewhat of an expert on it and he told me stay away from Vista it has too many problems. Once it was removed from the computer no more crashes occured. I'm sticking with Windows XP.
Vista is still not
Vista is still not finished.
They shouldnt bring it out so soon.
I keep it with XP for a while.
