Space Weather

 

Sometime around 2036, the asteroid Apophis will pass between the earth and the moon.   Now, this isn't one of those doomsday predictions like the 2000 computer scare and such.  NASA is tracking this as it rambles around the galaxy.

An asteroid doesn't have to actually strike a planet to cause some interesting changes in the environment.  Since it has its own gravitational properties, it can  influence based on proximity.  With this in mind, what changes do you think we would see with an asteroid passing very close to the earth?

What should we be doing to prepare for the event?

Interesting canges?  I just wish we should not see any dangerous changes. Already scientifically a person was stating that there is 12 ways for most of the places in Earth gonna destroy by 2012. Let's see if we first go to 2036 :P
