Allen Community College will kick off the next season with new leadership on the women’s side, with volleyball coach Scott Weston making his preseason debut next month, as noted by the Iola Register. Weston was recently hired to lead the women’s volleyball team, which opens Aug. 15 in Rockford, Illinois, at an opening-weekend tournament.
On the soccer pitch, Marcos Shimizu will serve as interim head coach for the ACC women’s soccer team. The Red Devils play Hutchinson Community College in an Aug. 12 friendly as the program moves forward while a new permanent head coaching hire is still being searched.
Weston joins Allen following coaching experience across the Midwest, including stops at Iowa Wesleyan University, Clinton Community College, Hawkeye Community College, Bethel College, McCook Community College, and Keokuk High School. His arrival comes as former volleyball coach Maria Aikins accepted a head coaching job at Cloud Community College, and Todd Francis was added as a new assistant coach.
Aikins compiled a 64-32 career record at Allen, with a Jayhawk Conference mark of 18-15. In 2024, the Red Devils finished 26-9 overall and 7-3 in conference play, and the team later broke into the NJCAA top 25 after upsetting Johnson County Community College before falling to top-ranked Cowley in the postseason.
