Blue Mound councilman and community volunteer remembered after cancer battle

Paul (Big Paul) Moeller, who lived in Leavenworth before the family moved to Blue Mound in June 1990, has died after a battle with cancer on August 28, 2026. He served the Blue Mound community in multiple ways, including holding various titles as a city council member.

In Blue Mound, Moeller became well known for his cooking and work as a cook and bartender at restaurants in the area. Friends and neighbors also described him as consistently willing to help—whether by delivering meals, visiting people, or finding time to support fundraisers and city events.

Moeller was also active as an avid numismatist and helped establish local clubs for youth. A memorial celebration will be announced later, and he requested that contributions honoring his life be directed to the American Diabetes Foundation, c/o Schneider Funeral Home, PO Box J, Mound City, KS 66056.
