The Blue River Rail Trail recently received a $25,000 grant from the Sunflower Foundation through its Paving the Way – From Blazing Trails to Building Community grant and education program.

A news release issued in May said the program is designed to support Kansas communities at different stages of public-access trail development. It includes customized planning support, technical assistance, and peer-learning opportunities.

The funding provides a direct boost to the trail’s next steps while pairing the work with the program’s education and support components for building and improving public-access routes in Kansas communities.
