Thieves broke into a detached building in rural Saline County, causing an estimated $4,780 in losses and about $565 in damage, according to the Saline County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident happened sometime Monday between 7:45 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. in the 4600 block of N Powers Road. Investigators say someone first attempted to force open a door without success, then broke a window to get inside before opening a door.
With the case tied to a specific time window and location, property owners in the area may want to review security for detached structures and consider strengthening door and window protection.
