Clay County Medical Center will welcome two new general surgeons as part of its ongoing partnership with Surgical Associates of Manhattan, strengthening access to surgical care for patients in Clay Center and across north central Kansas, the outlet reported. Meghan Blythe Shriver, MD, a White City, Kansas native, will join the facility after completing her general surgery residency at the University of South Alabama. She earned her Doctor of Medicine with honors from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and previously completed a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics at Kansas State University. Valerie Binns, MD, will also begin seeing patients in Clay Center in August. She is completing her general surgery residency at the University of Kansas School of Medicine–Wichita, and earned her medical degree with honors distinction from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. Her education also includes a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with a bioengineering specialty from Kansas State University. Clay County Medical Center described the addition as a way to keep advanced surgical services available locally, with both surgeons expected to start appointments in August, according to NewsRadio 1150 KSAL.
