Road and Bridge/Solid Waste Supervisor Adam Kuckelman told the board that representatives from Vance Brothers are reviewing work tied to Old Highway 9 west of Corning. He said both the county and Vance Brothers want to wrap up the project; marked areas will be fixed by Vance Brothers, and commissioners will then consider the contract fulfilled. Kuckelman also reported that truck drivers are spotting rock on various roads to finish rocking Horton, blade operators are blading roads, and bridge crews are setting beams on Bridge H-15. He added that several county road repairs will be needed in a short time before harvest begins this year.
In addition to approving minutes from the Aug. 3 meeting and ordering payment of approved vouchers, the board approved the Nemaha County 2027 proposed budget for publication. The commissioners also held two 10- and 15-minute executive sessions to discuss hiring non-elected personnel for an Emergency Preparedness Director position and for Human Resources; when the meeting returned to open session, no action followed those sessions.
The next regularly scheduled meeting was set for Monday, Aug. 17, though those minutes were not available at press time.
