Emporia election official certifies anti–data center petition

Emporia’s petition process for a proposed ordinance related to data centers moved forward after a county election official certified the paperwork, KSNT 27 News reported. Lyon County election officer Amie Jones submitted a letter to the city clerk’s office in Emporia after verifying an anti–data center petition on July 21. The petition centers on data centers in the community and calls for a proposed ordinance, setting up the next step in Emporia’s local decision-making process. City officials will now have the certified petition on record as residents consider how to proceed.
