Lyon County commissioners approved a six-month moratorium on data center development during a meeting this week, according to KSNT 27 News. The action is intended to temporarily limit approvals while the county considers how these uses fit within local planning.
In the same meeting, commissioners adopted two separate moratorium resolutions on July 23 covering more than one type of project. Along with data centers, the resolutions also address battery energy storage systems and commercial solar energy conversion systems.
Both resolutions were passed during the commission meeting, but they do not run for identical timeframes. The moratorium terms are set to remain in effect for different amounts of time, depending on the resolution.
