President Donald Trump has approved a federal disaster declaration after severe weather that brought tornadoes, flooding, and straight-line winds and caused widespread damage across Kansas, KSNT 27 News reports.

The declaration follows a request from Gov. Laura Kelly for federal assistance for communities impacted by storms that struck Kansas on April 26-27.

Under the approval, assistance is set to apply to Cherokee, Morris, Osage, Saline, and additional communities listed in the report.
