Federal disaster aid approved for Kansas counties hit by April storms

President Donald Trump has approved a disaster-aid request tied to severe storms that struck parts of Kansas on April 26 and 27, according to KSN-TV. The Kansas Adjutant General’s Office said the approval follows Gov. Laura Kelly’s FEMA assistance request issued in June.

The storms brought straight-line winds and hail and also spawned tornadoes, damaging infrastructure including utilities, roads, and bridges. Counties named as affected include Cherokee, Morris, Osage, Saline, and Wabaunsee.

KSN-TV reports that Trump said Kansas would receive $5.5 million. The approval is intended to support communities as they rebuild critical infrastructure after spring storm damage.
