Fort Hays State University (FHSU) says it has updated its tuition and fee structure for the 2026-2027 academic year, following the most recent Kansas Board of Regents meeting in Topeka. The university presented the change as part of its mission to keep education financially accessible.
FHSU also states that it remains the most affordable university in Kansas. In the upcoming fiscal year, it reports that resident undergraduate students would pay amounts described as: 10% less than Emporia State University, 17% less than Pittsburg State University, 37% less than Wichita State University, 48% less than Kansas State University, and 51% less than the University of Kansas. The update is framed by FHSU as a low-dollar adjustment to address inflation and decreased state funding.
FHSU President Dr. Tisa Mason said the priority is keeping costs low for FHSU families and that the rates are intended to support student success in the classroom and after graduation, while also helping maintain support for faculty and staff.
