USD 457’s Books-on-the-Bus and Summer Food Service programs will take a scheduled break from June 29 through July 3, 2026, with both programs scheduled to resume on Monday, July 6, 2026.
The Books-on-the-Bus program is a traveling bookmobile that brings books to various locations in Garden City during the summer. The bus visits the community Mondays through Fridays during July, with the goal of increasing reading skills by getting books into children’s hands.
The Summer Food Service program provides free nutritious meals to youth age 18 and under. Specific program sites and schedules are posted on the Garden City Public Schools website at www.gckschools.com.
