The Books-on-the-Bus (B.O.B.) bookmobile program run by USD 457 is in its final week, with visits running Monday, July 20, 2026 through Friday, July 24, 2026 in Garden City. Western Kansas News shared the schedule, which includes multiple morning and afternoon stops at local apartment buildings, parks, schools, senior housing, and the Finney County Library.
On the route, the bookmobile will stop Mondays at Mary Street Apartments (10:30–11:00 a.m.) and at Garden Rapids at the Big Pool (12:30–1:15 p.m.). Tuesdays include Harold Long Park (10:30–11:00 a.m.) and Ayala Park (11:15 a.m.–12:00 p.m.), while Wednesdays feature Dean Wiley Park (10:30–11:00 a.m.), Bob Halloran Park (11:15 a.m.–12:00 p.m.), and Garden Rapids at the Big Pool (12:30–1:15 p.m.). Thursdays include Victor Ornelas Elementary School (10:30–11:00 a.m.) plus Ayala Park (11:15 a.m.–12:00 p.m.). Friday hours conclude at the Finney County Library (11:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m.).
As the bookmobile season closes, Garden City Public Schools will begin the 2026–27 school year on Wednesday, August 12, with half-day orientation for kindergarten through fifth grades, seventh and ninth and tenth grades, and students new to the district. The first full day of classes is Thursday, August 13, 2026.
