Barnstead Farm Stand aims to bring locally raised goods to nearby shoppers

Great Bend Tribune reports that a farm about two miles south of Great Bend, with a family history dating to the 1880s, is selling products raised on-site directly to consumers. The Barnstead Farm Stand is located at 32 SW 20 Rd., where JoAnn Gaunt runs the stand with help from her children.

The stand opened earlier this spring and offers chicken and duck eggs, tallow balm, and other handmade crafts. Gaunt also plans to expand what’s available, including fresh honey and beeswax products from hives kept on nearby pasture, with hopes to eventually offer beef products and freshly milled flour.

The farmstead raises a variety of animals, including ducks and chickens, and visitors can also purchase food to feed the birds. The stand is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
