Allen County’s 30th annual Relay for Life raised more than $32,000 for the American Cancer Society at Saturday’s event held in the Riverside Park Community Building in Iola, according to the Iola Register. Organizer Edna Donovan said additional donations are expected to come in during the coming days.

About 20 cancer survivors and their friends and family attended the survivor dinner as part of the program. The event also included a survivor lap and caregiver laps, which open all Relay for Life events.

Relay for Life has been raising funds to fight cancer since 1996, with this year’s gathering marking three decades of local participation and fundraising in Allen County.
