Hutchinson and Reno County residents have a packed slate of community events from July 27 through Aug. 8, featuring family-friendly movies at the Historic Fox Theatre, weekly market days downtown, local art and music, and special celebrations tied to Emancipation Day.
Several days on the calendar include Fox Kids Summer Movie Series screenings at Hutchinson’s Historic Fox Theatre (18 E. First Ave.), along with an additional Retro/Classic Film Series showing titles such as “As Good as It Gets,” “State Fair,” “Sister Act,” and “Stormy Weather.” Outdoor and community options also include the Reno County Farmers Market (103 W. Second Ave.) and Buhler Farmers Market at Albert Becker Park, plus yoga at Sandhills Brewing.
Other highlights include the Reno County Fair at the Kansas State Fairgrounds (2000 N. Poplar St.), the Pat Potucek Retrospective opening reception at the Hutchinson Art Center (405 N. Washington St.), and a Rise Up Reno Prevention Network fundraiser for Putting for Prevention at Hutch Putt. The schedule also features community gatherings such as a Bridgebuilders Barbecue at Carey Park Homebuilders Shelter and Emancipation Day events, including a 10 a.m. Main Street parade and an evening of jazz at the Stringer Fine Arts Center.
