Kansas Highway Patrol said Matthew J. Brungardt, 28, of Galesburg, was stopped northbound while waiting to turn left onto North Dakota Road when his 2008 Ford Mustang was hit from behind by a 2011 Ford Taurus driven by Rylan L. Miller, 18, of Fort Scott. The impact pushed Brungardt’s car into the southbound lanes, where an oncoming semitractor-trailer rig driven by Michael W. Endicott, 54, of Moran struck the passenger side before entering the west ditch and rolling onto its side.
Brungardt and Miller were transported to Allen County Regional Hospital for suspected minor injuries, while Endicott was not hurt. Traffic remained stopped for several hours as wreckage was cleared.
