Born Sept. 8, 1941, Irene Louise Pinneo graduated from Kincaid High School in 1959 and attended Allen County Community College. She married Gary Louk on May 27, 1961, in Selma, and their marriage spanned 65 years. Over the years, she worked for H&R Block in Garnett for 15 years and was active in garden clubs and church life, including membership in the Selma Methodist Church.
Irene’s horticulture expertise shaped local public events: she served as superintendent of flower exhibits at the Kincaid Fair from 1980 to 2023 and later worked as a flower judge for many county fairs. She was also involved as a leader with the Selma Flaming Arrow 4-H Club and enjoyed family travel.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her son, Earl Dean, in 1965. Irene is survived by her husband, Gary, and by her children Nancy Becker, John Louk, Roy Louk, and Dale Louk, along with multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services are set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 2, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Garnett, with a visitation planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kincaid Selma Community Church or the Kincaid High School Community Center, left in care of the funeral home.
