Hospital administrator Doyle McKimmy said the ongoing behavior creates safety risks for patients, visitors, and others near the building, especially because some patients and visitors are elderly or have mobility challenges and may use walkers, wheelchairs, or other assistance.
McKimmy also pointed to the danger of vehicles moving quickly through parking areas where pedestrians are traveling, along with the risk when drivers back out of parking spaces and may encounter another vehicle traveling through the lot.
The hospital’s request is for drivers to use the appropriate public roads, be aware of pedestrians and other vehicles, and allow a few extra seconds to help prevent an accident.
