Fort Riley Outdoor Adventure Park will host the 8th annual Bow Slinger 3-D archery tournament on Aug. 15, and the event is open to the public. The tournament is designed for archers of all ages, with six categories that include a youth division for participants under 16. Recreation staff will also offer a free archery class from 9 a.m. to noon on tournament day. Archers must bring their own equipment.
Registration is open at riley.armymwr.com and is also available at the Outdoor Adventure Park office, but pre-registration is required. Early bird registration runs until July 31, and registration closes Aug. 13. Check-in begins at 6:30 a.m., a mandatory shooter’s meeting is set for 8:00, and the tournament starts at 9 a.m. The Belay Cafe on site will be open for food purchases, with breakfast from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. and lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Participants without a DoD ID card can apply for a visitor pass online or in person at the Fort Riley Visitor Control Center at Exit 301 off I-70; applying in advance is recommended. The visitor center opens at 8 a.m. on weekends.
