Missouri and Kansas attorneys general are asking the Federal Communications Commission to tighten federal rules intended to make it harder for robocall scammers to obtain and cycle through legitimate phone numbers.
The bipartisan coalition says restricting scammers’ access to real-number resources would reduce their ability to impersonate trusted callers, bypass spam filters, and reach consumers with illegal robocalls. The push was announced by Missouri’s attorney general’s office, which emphasized the goal of making it more difficult for scammers to harass and deceive Americans through phone calls. (KMBC 9)
Missouri’s attorney general’s office also cited the scale of the problem in its state, saying Missourians have received more than 513 million robocalls since January 2026.
