Grace Miller, a 10-year-old living with juvenile arthritis since age 5, is turning her love of painting into a fundraiser for others through the Arthritis Foundation’s Art for Arthritis event in Kansas City, where her artwork will be auctioned to support arthritis research.
Paired with professional artist Laura Simmons, Grace has created paintings as part of the program. Simmons says the work is about more than art—highlighting that children and others living with arthritis may look fine on the outside while still needing breaks. The partnership aims to help children with arthritis feel seen and build confidence, not only raise money for research and programs.
Grace describes painting as her way to share her story, including her favorite subject: sea otters. Her participation also includes tickets and event details available through arthritis.org/kcart.
