Children’s Mercy Hospital shared an update Thursday on pediatric fireworks injuries a few days before the July 4 holiday. The hospital said it has treated three children for fireworks-related injuries so far.
The children’s ages range from 7 to 13. Two were hurt by smoke bomb burns or eye injuries, and one child injured an eye with a lighting punk. Children’s Mercy reported that all three were treated and released.
KMBC 9 reports the update comes as some families begin early Fourth of July celebrations and underscores the role of close supervision when children are around fireworks.
