A cold front moved south of the Kansas City area Sunday evening, clearing skies and bringing cooler, drier air. The metro should stay free of thunderstorms for the next couple of days, with a stretch of quiet weather through Tuesday.
Temperatures will run below normal for late June. Highs are expected to stay in the 70s and low 80s through Friday, including about 75 degrees on Monday and near 79 degrees on Tuesday, with relatively low humidity.
Rain chances gradually return midweek. A few isolated showers are possible Wednesday, with highs around 82 degrees, and Thursday could also see a spotty shower near 81 degrees. The better chance for scattered showers and some thunderstorms comes Friday, when temperatures are expected to top out near 81 degrees.
After that, summer heat ramps up again heading into next weekend, with highs in the upper 80s Saturday and around 90 degrees Sunday, with early indications the upper-90-degree stretch could continue into the start of the following week.
