Comfortable Friday events in Kansas City before weekend storms and flood risk

Friday is expected to bring comfortable weather for Juneteenth and World Cup celebrations in the Kansas City area, with temperatures staying pleasant throughout the day. The forecast calls for a high near 86 degrees and mostly clear, calm conditions, making it a good day for outdoor plans.

Rain is expected to move in starting Friday night, with possible showers beginning in the evening. Those showers are forecast to continue into the overnight hours and into Saturday morning, when conditions are part of a First Alert Weather Impact Day. Storms are also expected Saturday night.

Sunday remains an Impact Day as well, with morning storms and spotty showers later in the day. For any Father’s Day plans, it’s advised to have an indoor option. The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the Kansas City metro and counties to the north of KC, so flooding could be a primary concern alongside damaging winds during the weekend storms.

By Monday through Wednesday, the outlook is drier, with highs in the upper 70s and lower 80s. KMBC 9 reports on the weekend’s rain and storm timing.
