FBI reports arrests and child rescues during World Cup anti-trafficking operations in Kansas City area

Multiple people were arrested and nine children were found during FBI-led anti-trafficking operations conducted during the World Cup in the Kansas City area, the FBI Kansas City division announced. The FBI said 19 people were arrested on state and federal charges, and nine victims were offered resources. The FBI described human trafficking as exploitation of a person for services or sex through force or coercion, and said any exploitation of a minor is considered trafficking. It also credited a regional network of more than 15 law enforcement agencies, including the Kansas City Police Department, with support across 17 operations. The FBI’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force played a major role, with team members and partners that included Kansas agencies such as the Overland Park Police Department and the Olathe Police Department, alongside partners in other jurisdictions.
