A federal criminal search warrant executed at a Kansas City, Missouri food manufacturing business led to the arrest of an unregistered sex offender, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said. Jackson County Sheriff Darryl Forté confirmed the warrant was issued at the business and emphasized that the operation was not immigration related.
Forté said his office was not involved in executing the search warrant. After federal agents identified an unregistered sex offender at the location, they requested help from the sheriff’s Sex Offender Registration and Enforcement Unit. A sheriff’s detective arrested the person and transported them to the Jackson County Detention Center.
In a statement posted on social media, Forté said his office has been in regular communication with the local Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations Kansas City, describing an ongoing working relationship available “if needed.”
