A flash flood warning is in effect for the greater Kansas City metro after several inches of rain fell overnight, with more possible into Thursday morning, KMBC 9 reports.
The National Weather Service issued the warning for Johnson, Leavenworth and Wyandotte Counties in Kansas, and for Cass, Clay, Jackson and Platte Counties in Missouri, until 9:45 a.m. Flooding has been reported in low-lying trouble spots across the area, and emergency crews have been assisting in clearing trapped cars into the early morning hours.
Emergency officials urged drivers to use caution on roadways and to watch for standing water.
