Four teenagers—two under 18—were killed in two separate shootings at the same Kansas City apartment complex within less than a month, prompting residents to renew complaints about security and access to the property. KMBC 9 reports that the incidents occurred on June 11 and June 27 at The Depot at Old Santa Fe apartments, where tenants described hearing automatic gunfire and pointed to lingering damage after the first shooting. Kansas City police said the June 11 deaths included 17-year-old Rontez Donahue and 18-year-old Dion Sims-Bey. Sixteen days later, two more gunshot victims were fatally wounded within the same complex: 16-year-old Brandon Henderson, Jr. and 18-year-old Dillion Boykin, who died from their wounds. Tenants said they had complained multiple times about limited security, including that the gate is left open and that people can enter the 31-acre site. Security cameras were installed in certain parts of the complex for the first time last week. The landlord is Kittle Property Group, which previously received federal tax credits for The Depot Apartments. Kansas City police said they do not have any suspects in custody and asked the public to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS with information. The Youth Peace & Justice Foundation announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to identification and prosecution in the June 27 deaths; police also noted a reward of up to $25,000.
