Harvesters — The Community Food Network is asking for volunteers across the Kansas City metro to help distribute a larger-than-normal amount of perishable donations, including bread and produce, before they go bad. KMBC 9 reports the food bank’s supply is up, but it needs additional help to get the food to people who need assistance quickly.
Harvesters says no training or experience is required. Volunteers must be at least 12 years old: children ages 12–15 can volunteer with adult supervision, while those 16 and older may volunteer on their own. The organization encourages teens needing volunteer hours, families, and corporate groups to join.
Shifts run in Kansas City from Tuesday through Saturday, with three two-hour options: 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 1:30 p.m. In Lawrence, Harvesters has shifts Tuesday through Friday at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
