A persistent heat dome is expected to keep the Kansas City region dangerously warm and humid through the holiday week. Overnight lows are forecast to stay around 78 degrees, with muggy conditions continuing well into the weekend.

Tuesday is expected to be hazy, hot, and humid, with daytime highs in the low 90s and a heat index rising into the triple digits. Temperatures are forecast to remain in the 90s through the upcoming holiday weekend as the heat dome lingers.

Rain chances return late Saturday night into Sunday, when showers and thunderstorms may develop. Any relief from humidity is possible by the end of the weekend, but afternoon highs are still expected to run above normal.
