A heat advisory is in effect for the Kansas City metro beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday and lasting through 7 p.m. Monday, after a stretch of rainy days gave way to much hotter conditions.
Temperatures are expected to climb into the 90s, with heat index values rising to near 105 on Saturday and potentially around 110 in some areas Sunday and Monday. The weekend also includes First Alert Weather Impact and Alert Days tied to the extreme heat.
With the risk of heat-related illness for both people and pets, the guidance is to take frequent breaks if you’re outdoors and stay hydrated.
KMBC 9 also notes an additional Impact Day Tuesday due to the high heat, with storm chances returning each day next week.
