A Kansas City man accused of shooting a driver during a road rage incident is facing multiple charges, including unlawful use of a weapon, first-degree assault, and two counts of armed criminal action. The case stems from reports of gunfire that brought Kansas City Police Department officers to the area of East Truman Road and Interstate 435 on March 8.
Court documents say officers found a man who had been shot in the arm. The injury required multiple hospital stays and surgeries. While responding, police learned the accused man—identified as Javion J. Jackson—had driven to a Kansas City Fire Department station, removed the magazine from his firearm, and left it in the passenger side of his vehicle before being taken into custody.
In interviews and statements included in court documents, the victim described Jackson following closely, swerving, and signaling aggressively before the shooting occurred. Jackson, meanwhile, told police he believed the victim’s driving forced him to switch lanes and later alleged the victim got out and made threatening remarks while Jackson remained seated. Witness reports and video footage described the victim exiting the vehicle, yelling and cursing, and pounding on the driver’s window shortly before the shot was fired.
Jackson made his initial court appearance on July 7. A bond review hearing is scheduled for July 15.
