Kansas City’s brief stretch of comfortable summer weather ends as humidity and rain chances return

Kansas City residents can enjoy a comfortable start to the week, with temperatures trending back toward early-July norms. KMBC 9 says Monday and Tuesday highs will land near the typical 87 to 88 degree range, making it a good window for outdoor plans.

Monday begins around 68 degrees in the morning and climbs to about 87, with a mix of sunshine and clouds and a light northeast breeze. Tuesday is similar, with highs around 89, though humidity begins creeping upward. The forecast then shifts by Wednesday as moisture moves in from the south, pushing dew points into the 70s and keeping overnight lows in the 70s while afternoons climb to around 92.

For rain, the next chances come Thursday and Friday. KMBC 9 reports scattered showers and a few storms may develop, but neither day appears to be a washout, with rain chances around 20% to 30%. Highs stay warm, near 90 on Thursday before easing to around 87 on Friday.

Air quality and outdoor timing

  • Air quality is improving as lingering smoke from Independence Day fireworks clears.
  • By Monday and Tuesday, conditions are expected to be much better for time outside.
