KCK police say a June 11 investigation helped identify the suspect wanted in connection with a deadly shooting spree across the Kansas City area. The suspect is 22-year-old Oscar Sanchez-Munoz, and as of late Thursday afternoon he had not been captured, according to KMBC 9. Police said a vehicle occupied by an adult and a child was struck by gunfire around 6:30 p.m. on June 11, and detectives were able to track the suspect’s movements and identify both him and his residence. Kansas City, Missouri, police believe Sanchez-Munoz is responsible for shootings between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday along Interstates 70 and 670, with one person killed and four others injured. The victims included three adults and one juvenile; police said the four surviving victims are expected to recover. After the shootings, law enforcement tracked the suspect to a home in the 700 block of Brookside Avenue in Independence, where an overnight standoff was followed by a fire that damaged the home. Searches using K-9 teams did not find him, and investigators say anyone who sees Sanchez-Munoz should call 911; tips can also be submitted through the TIPS Hotline. The FBI is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction.
