Last World Cup weekend in Kansas City: Saturday’s matches, Fan Festival wrap-up, and Friday storm watch

Saturday marks the end of Kansas City’s FIFA Fan Festival stay and the end of the city’s hosting stretch for World Cup matches, with Argentina vs. Switzerland scheduled for 8 p.m. at Kansas City Stadium. There are no matches scheduled for Sunday, July 12, with semifinals beginning Tuesday, July 14, and the World Cup final set for Sunday, July 19.

Weekend match schedule also includes Spain vs. Belgium at 2 p.m. at Los Angeles Stadium and Norway vs. England at 4 p.m. at Miami Stadium. In Kansas City, Friday is a First Alert Weather Impact Day due to storm chances, primarily 3–8 p.m., with damaging wind the most likely severe hazard. Hail and a brief tornado can’t be ruled out, but tornado potential is described as low.

Fan Festival plans continue through Friday and Saturday as the festival wraps up a reported 18-day stay; the theme is “KC Creates.” For attending Argentina vs. Switzerland, the usual clear bag policy will be in place (clear bags up to 12×6×12 inches or smaller), banners and flags are allowed with size limits, and fans can bring one sealed 20-ounce clear plastic water bottle (no glass or metal containers). Shuttle service will be available again with passes recommended in advance, and a free airport-to-downtown shuttle requires a pass.
