New cellphone pickup lot expands parking at Kansas City International Airport

Drivers waiting to pick up arriving passengers at Kansas City International Airport now have a larger, improved place to wait, thanks to a newly opened cellphone lot. KMBC 9 reports that the Kansas City Aviation Department held a ribbon-cutting Tuesday afternoon for the upgraded area.

The new lot sits along Bern Street and Tel Aviv Avenue, just north of the airport terminal. It adds 167 parking spots and includes three electric vehicle charging stations, an emergency call station, and other security features.

The redesign also separates the pickup experience for different types of drivers. The updated cellphone setup is intended to distinguish between private drivers and ride-sharing drivers, with the former cellphone lot on Brasilia Avenue reserved for ride-sharing drivers only.
