Officers responded to the area of East 87th Street and Blue Ridge Boulevard around 12:45 p.m. on reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found one person had been shot and transported that person to the hospital, where they remain in critical condition.
Police later said the investigation has shifted to a homicide inquiry. A person of interest was detained at the scene.
