The heightened patrols are part of the national Speeding Catches up with You enforcement campaign. KDOT says speeding is an aggressive and dangerous behavior that endangers everyone on the road, and it emphasizes that speed limits are set to help protect all road users.
KDOT also points to risk tied to speeding: every mile per hour driven over the limit increases crash risk and the severity of injuries. It cites preliminary Kansas 2025 crash data showing 20% of people killed and 39% of those injured in crashes were speeding.
Drivers can access additional speeding education resources through the NHTSA website.
