In La Cygne, a contractor replacing culverts near the intersection of 2075th Road inadvertently crushed three of the four culverts in phase one. While the damaged culverts were replaced by last Friday, Aug. 21, new custom culverts are needed for the second phase of the project, and the public works director told the Linn County Commission that delivery could take at least two weeks.
The paved road, which connects La Cygne with the Tanglewood Lakes development and points south to Mound City, has been out of commission since early August and appears likely to remain closed until nearly mid-September. The delayed opening is also expected to affect the schedule for repaving the repair.
