Lawrence school board set to review community feedback and year-end progress Monday

Members of the Lawrence school board will meet Monday, June 22, to hear two administrator reports: one summarizing a community conversation conducted earlier in 2026 and another providing an end-of-year update on progress toward district goals. Lawrence Public Schools Superintendent Jeanice Swift will be joined by James Polk, director of data and information services; Jake Potter, outgoing executive director of communications; and Summer Workman, current director of communications who will move into Potter’s role at the beginning of July.

District administrators connected with students, families, and staff gathered feedback from January through March. The meeting agenda describes the conversation’s premise as relying on students, staff, families, and the community as key sources of input on the district’s strengths and opportunities for improvement. The agenda also says the end-of-June report will update progress toward shared goals, aligned with district needs and constituent feedback, and will help inform next steps for the 2026-27 school year.

No reports or additional documentation were attached to the agenda as of Saturday afternoon. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at district offices at 110 McDonald Drive. It will be open to the public, livestreamed on the district’s YouTube channel, and broadcast on Midco channel 26. The agenda also indicates the board will enter a 45-minute executive session at the end, with no action afterward, and the board has not heard general public comment since Nov. 17.
